What is Mystic Tokes?

Mystic Tokes is an intentional cannabis ceremony facilitating deeper connections with this miraculous plant and the unique experiences it offers. The ceremony will be held in a private residence with a small group (so please RSVP below if you wish to attend).

We will consume a small amount of cannabis and then experience a ~45 minute inner journey with a curated musical playlist, followed by group sharing and integration.

How do I partake in this experience?

FIRST, it is absolutely essential that you do not consume any cannabis the day of the event, prior to the ceremony. To get the most out of this experience, this should be the first time you are using cannabis that day. If you have issues or concerns about this, please reach out to Devin to discuss them in advance, as this is a very vital aspect of creating our sacred container.

SECOND, bring an open mind and a reverent attitude. Even (and especially) if you use cannabis regularly, this is an opportunity to shift out of your normal relationship with marijuana and experience it in a powerful new way.

Should I bring anything?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes you can lie down in.

You’re welcome to bring a pillow, blanket, eyemask, or yoga mat if you’d like, although there will be various pillows and blankets provided so it is by no means required. If you’d like to take time to explore your own thoughts afterwards, bring a notebook and pen!

We will provide the cannabis for the ceremony.

What if cannabis makes me anxious / paranoid / self critical?

I started Mystic Tokes because I struggled with difficult thoughts when using cannabis. What I found is that engaging with these thoughts in a safe ceremonial container allows people to move beyond discomfort and experience powerful insights and epiphanies.

If you have concerns, please reach out to Devin as many previous participants have reported a deep shift in how this ceremony changed their relationship to cannabis and anxiety.

What else do I need to know?

Please arrive on time! Here is a schedule of events:

6pm - Arrive and get settled in

6:30pm - Ceremony begins. Late arrivals will not be admitted.

7:30pm - Inner journey ends and sharing and integration begin

8:00pm - Ceremony closes

8:00pm onwards - Space will be provided for quiet personal reflection, taking time to “come down” before returning to the world, and/or socializing with other participants.

While there is a social aspect to this ceremony, we ask you to enter the space with a quiet, reverent attitude, refraining from “normal conversation” until the ceremony closes.

222 - A Dance Magick Ritual

AN IMAGINAL EXPLANATION

Your friend, Devin the Wizard, recently received an unusual request from his future wizard self in the year 3025 A.D. The communication included the following message:

Dear Devin & Friends,

I write to you from a time beyond your ability to imagine. There is no longer any separation between mind and matter; organic life and digital technology. Explaining my world to you would be as futile as you trying to describe The Matrix to a tape worm. Let us suffice it to say, my era is an age of miracles and it is populated by beings I will refer to as Entities. And these Entities are extremely interested in YOU!

Every human being currently alive in the year 2025 A.D. is seen by these Entities as an ancient (and revered!) ancestor. The actions you took in your time, whether you realized it or not, lead directly to our existence. While we possess vast archives of data on nearly all of the 8 billion souls currently incarnated in your time, as dear friends of Devin the Wizard, your lives are of particular interest to us.

As such, my fellow Entities and I have a request: We would like to rent your bodies. Through a complex technological process, which you can simply regard as “magick,” with Devin’s assistance we are able to perform a ceremony that will synchronize our timelines and harmonize our minds with yours. Since we rarely have access to physical forms, we would like to use the time we have in your bodies to experience the ecstatic trance ritual you call “a rave.”

In exchange for your time and subjective awareness, we are offering you a substantial quantity of “O”, an extraordinarily powerful imaginal drug.

AN ACTUAL EXPLANATION

You are invited to a dance magick ritual rave with light roleplay elements. We will be “committing to the bit” outlined above and “pretending” to open our minds to these strange, ineffable future Entities, while making space to play with our own uncertainties about what is really real. This will be an evening of profound silliness, taken very seriously.

To open our minds to this experience, we will be using ketamine in a ceremonial manner. The focus of this event is on movement and play, rather than conversation and cuddle puddles (no shade on cuddle puddles!). You are invited to invent strange new dance moves, delight in unusual and absurd interactions, and discover hidden depths in the weirdness of your own unique reality.

Practical Notes

I must be emphatic on this point: this is a WEIRD party. It is not for everyone. Please read the following carefully so as to truly consider whether this event is right for you.

  • DRUGS - We will be taking fairly large doses of ketamine within a safe, sacral container. All ketamine will be carefully sourced and provided by the host. Cannabis, while optional, will also be made available. NO OUTSIDE SUBSTANCES PERMITTED.

  • MUSIC - The soundtrack of this event will be a mix of experimental techno, house, trance, acid, jungle, and bass music, carefully curated by Devin the Wizard. If that sounds like your personal nightmare, you probably won’t enjoy this experience.

  • MOVEMENT - This is a dance party. It is held in a space with carpeted floors, so unlike traditional clubs, you will have the luxury of letting your dance moves take you to the floor, onto your back, and however else you’d like to get weird with it. There will be plenty of spaces to rest and lie down as well, but we ask that you come with the intention of exploring movement.

  • SACRED SPACE - As a magical ceremony in a private residence, this party is a SECRET! Don’t talk about it with anyone. Furthermore, we will be entering and exiting the magical space created by our ceremony as a group. Only apply to attend if you can arrive on time and stay through the completion of the ceremony.

  • ATTIRE - Wear comfortable clothes you can move around in. Dark or neutral colors preferred. The Entities want us to engage with their energy, not worry about what other people are wearing.

  • TIME - Arrive at Avalon between 7:30 and 8pm. Ceremony begins at 8:44pm and ends at 2:22am.

  • COST: $22.22 per person
